Safety and Rules
Ten rules. They exist so that a first-timer changing brake pads and a restorer chasing a numbers-matching engine can share the same building, and so both go home in one piece.
18 and over, with ID.
No exceptions, including for a parent's helper.
Waiver every visit.
Read it before you arrive. It is short and it is real.
Staff raise, lower and lock-check every lift.
You do the work on the car. Our staff put it in the air and check the locks before you go under it.
Three people per bay.
Your bay, your helper, and one more. Spectators use the lounge.
Floor jacks are never the only support.
Stands, every time.
No spray painting. No fuel-tank work. No open flame near fluids.
That is what keeps us insured and open.
Closed-toe shoes and eye protection.
We have loaner glasses at the counter.
Load-in and load-out are on your time.
Book the time you need.
An unfinished car becomes paid storage overnight.
Nothing is stranded on a lift, and nobody loses their slot.
Zero tolerance for alcohol.
Coffee is free.
The orientation
Every new member watches a short orientation before their first bay: how lifts work, where the lock points are, what staff do and what you do, where the fluids go, what to do if something goes wrong. About four minutes. Then a walk of the floor with whoever is on the counter.
Oil, coolant and the environment
We plan to operate as a certified used-oil collection point, so members and neighbours have a legal place to bring oil, filters and coolant. Nothing goes down a drain. Rags, filters and fluids go where they are supposed to go, and we keep the records the state asks for.
Insurance and inspection
Lifts are ALI-certified and inspected on schedule. The building carries garage-keepers and general liability cover. Dedicated-bay mechanics carry their own garage-liability policy naming the club. This is planned and being quoted now; it is a condition of opening, not an option.
